Hydroseeding vs Seeding: What's the Difference?
Hydroseeding is an economical method to get your grass growing. Proper preparation and attention to particulars are crucial before and during your Hydroseeding CT procedure.
Set up the space
Remove any large rocks and debris from the area you want to seed before seeding it. Topsoil should be spread from 8 to 10 inches deep to make a rough grade. It is essential to ensure that water drains from your home and buildings by filling in low spots. A tiller is required when your soil is compacted. The pore space between soil particles is small in compacted soils blocking the circulation of water, oxygen, and minerals.
Conduct a soil inspection.
Check out the soil and think about doing soil research. Most soil is made up of sand, clay, and silt. Sand soil can allow water and air to flow freely. However, it may also dry out quickly. New grassroots can be starved on clay soils due to the slow flow of air and water. Organic matter, or compost, can improve the soil quality of clay and sandy soils. Top Spray can adjust the pH and amend soils based on soil studies.
Modify the soil if necessary
After the rough grade has been covered with organic matter and tilled into place, it should be considered the final grade. For the flatness of the surface, you'll need to lift it or employ harrows. The soil should not be too soft or compact. Get in touch with us to finalize the details of your hydroseeding CT application.
Awaiting Your Response
It is essential to give your freshly sown grass at least 24 hours for it to dry. The drying process can cause the hydro-mulch tackifier (glue) to adhere to the soil. You do not want the lawn you just seeded to be damaged when you walk or drive over it.
Begin your routine of watering after 24 hours. To ensure your success, ensure your lawn as moist as is possible.
Hydroseeding: Should you use water?
Plan for Watering
From the third week onwards, we have the following: The new seed must constantly remain moist but not wet and soggy. Seeds will not last when it begins to dry out after sprouting. The size of grass, weather, season, soil type, and terrain impact the amount of water required to maintain healthy lawns. You can achieve the best results by regularly watering your lawn for shorter amounts of time (3-6 times per day, based on the conditions). Make sure that the area is well-watered—the darker the color of the area, whether brown or green, the drier it is. If there is excessive water in a single area or for a long time, seed and mulch can be damaged.
Weeks 3 to 5 The lawn should be watered over longer durations and less frequently. This encourages roots that are deep and healthier grass plants. We will decrease this water consumption from 6 to 3 times per week.
Maintenance
Mowing
If your lawn is at the height of 3 three and a half inches, it is time to cut it. Cutting the top third of the grass while mowing is crucial. Make sure you sharpen your blades and keep them free of dirt. Mowing stimulates the growth of tillers (branching out at the base of the plant). Your lawn will fill in faster if you have more tillering.
Fertilizing
It is crucial to fertilize your newly hydroseeding CT lawn to ensure the healthy development of young grass plants. Utilize a spreader for broadcasts to apply balanced and granular fertilizer as the grass grows to at least 2 inches. It will take between 3 and 4 weeks. For either 16-16-16-16-16 (or 18-10-10) The rate for application is 4.5kgs/100m2. Using a 21-7-14 blend, apply fertilizer every four to five times per year once the lawn has grown.
Control of Weeds
Only use the Weed Killer after your lawn has been mowed five times. In the spring, it's typical for the newly hydroseeding CTlawns to develop weeds. These plants are primarily annuals in the soil. When their life cycle is over in the fall, reg, ular mowing will be sufficient to keep them under control.
